Huri Hanim - 'Hannah' New Photo!

Thank you to Brian and Cerys for this wonderful updated photo of their two dogs. Left, Tuzla Zebani (m) and right Huri Hanim (b). Hannah reaches her first birthday at the beginning of February! Happy Birthday Hannah.

Huri Anatolians will be at Crufts in 2007 supporting our judge Mrs Ann Arch. Chanim, Hazine and Hannah will all be there waving the flag for the rough coats, whilst Arkadas Ates will be there as the sole tricolour. All colours and coat textures all from the west country!!!

Junior World Show Winner - Huri Hasmet.

At the FCI World Show held in Poland from 9th to 12th November our very own Huri Hasmet took World Show Junior Winner at just 9 months of age! Darek and Eva have sent through some photo's of their dog and awards from the World Show - having trouble up-loading them right now, but check back later and they'll hopefully be up :-) .

Huri Hanim - 'Hannah' UPDATE!

I have today received an e-mail from Brian and Cerys Tyson, who have Hannah, the only bitch from my February 2006 litter. They have written with the following wonderful news:

"Last night Hannah did us all proud and got her Bronze Award for Royal Institute of Professional Dog Training. She sailed through and did not put a foot wrong, even the worst point of all dogs in a circle, releasing your dog and calling her from between two other dogs on the other side of the hall from her place in the circle. She walked through as though the other dogs werent there. She has been asked to move up the classes from beginners to experienced class and to go for her silver, which will include heelwork, scenting retreival etc.."

All this before she has reached eight months of age!

Brian and Cerys were also at the North East Premier Open Show, and Zebani took the Open Class, Best Dog, and Best of Breed. Hannah took Best Puppy and Best Opposite. See photo below:

Huri Get Together!

Today the dogs of Huri all had a bit of a doggy get together in Okehampton. Six anatolians were there in all, Huri Hazine of Hisar (Hazine) and Arkadas TuzlaZevrek (Diesel) came to visit from Cornwall, along with my four, Hakem (Hazines brother), Tulin (Auntie off all!), Mr D (7 month old from Feb litter) and Chanim (mother of all except Tulin + Diesel). Complicated! Here are a few snapshots of our walk in the woods.

Huri Hulus a.k.a Baby Gin.

Gin is being lightly shown at local shows by Georgina, his 11 year old handler. So far, they have got themselves quite a collection of rosettes, and Georgina hopes to be able to make her debut at the Championship Shows in the near future........................watch this space :-)

Hanim + Hulus - Family Re-Union.

Hanim (Hannah) was on her hols this week in Cornwall, and paid her litter brother Hulus (Gin) a visit! Here are a few snapshots of the two!

These two babies are 6 months and three weeks old. Their mother is fawn black mask with a rough-coat, and their dad is a tricolour shortcoat.

Hanim Does It Again! Welsh KC Champ Show.

Hannah made another appearance a week after Bournemouth at the WELK's Show under Dennis Coxall, and repeated her success of Best Puppy in Breed, and the added bonus of Reserve Bitch In Breed!! A huge achievement for such a young puppy, especially a rough-coat! Hannah was the only rough-coat present on the day, and came up against mature bitches, all of which were short-coated fawn with black masks. Well done Cerys - you showed 'em!! :-) Thank you to Mr Dennis Coxall for such excellent and fair judging.

Huri Hanim Crufts Qualifies at First Show!!

Huri Hanim, aka Hannah has qualified for Crufts at the tender age of 6 months and a few days!!! This little rough-coated girl showed her socks off for judge Zena Thorn-Andrews at Bornemouth Champ Show on 14th August, and was awarded Best Puppy In Breed!!! Congratulations to her owners Brian and Cerys Tyson, and huge thanks to the judge, Mrs Zena Thorn-Andrews.

Huri Hulus - First Show!

Yesterday, Huri Hulus, a.k.a Gin made his debut in the showring at Carnhell Green Rally in Camborne at six months and one week! He was handled by his young owner, Georgina who was recovering from a tonsilectomy she'd had only three days before!

The Bray family met up with Caroline and Theresa, with their dogs Hazine and Diesel, and they had a great afternoon in and out of the ring with the dogs being placed in almost every class! The turnout for this show was suprisingly large considering the overcast weather and rather chilly wind.

All of the pedigree classes were big entries, with Diesel taking 5th in AV Non-Sporting, and Hazine taking 3rd in AV Open. For the rest of the afternoon, the rosettes mounted up, with Gin also taking a 1st in his class and other rosettes from different classes throughout the afternoon. Sadly, the battery on Caroline's camera ran out after only the 3rd class, so pictures are few and far between, but luckily, most of the photo's taken were of Gin!!

Huri Hulus Out & About!

Saturday 15th July was Camborne Show. The show has something for everyone, including agricultural classes for all kinds of livestock from bullocks to rabbits and everything inbetween! There was a bit of a family gathering with the youngest member of the 'Camborne Clan' making his debut out and about. Huri Hulus (a.k.a Gin), five and a half months old met up with his bigger half sister Huri Hazine of Hisar, and his uncle Arkadas TuzlaZevrek (a.k.a Diesel) at ringside for the dog show. Gin didn't actually take part himself, as he's not quite six months, but the main aim for Dawn and Mark, his owners, was to get him out and about socializing with people dogs, and all manner of four legged creatures appearing at the show! Our rare breed also met up with another rare breed - the Northern Inuit Dog, of which there was a stunning pair. The Anatolians attracted a lot of attention as did the Inuits, and all were impeccably behaved. Hazine took 2nd in the AV Non-Sporting class, only to be beaten by a Standard Poodle, who went on to take Best In Show. I understand a fantastic day was had by all :-)

Best Of Breed - Paignton 2006

Paignton Championship Show was held yesterday (12th July 2006). The judge for Anatolian Shepherd Dogs was Mr Vernon Miles of the Kurtkir kennel. Vernon has been involved in Anatolian's since the mid 80's, and has been an owner, breeder and exhibitor for all of this time.

The entry for Anatolians was good, 18 in total. There were a couple of absentee's on the day, but the dogs present were all excellently behaved and well presented for our judge, as well as being wonderful ambassadors for our breed.

Huri had good results on the day, with tricolour Tuzla Tulin of Huri coming 3rd in the Post Graduate Bitch class, and Huri Hazine of Hisar being awarded 1st place in the same class. Hazine then went on to take Best Bitch, and Best Of Breed.

A wonderful day, wonderful weather and wonderful results.

Meet Huri Hazar

"I'm still living at home in the Huri household with mummy, and my big huge gigantic half brother Hakem. Great Auntie Tulin also lives with us, and Gem Gem the cat, and Pen, the really ancient cat."

"I'm really looking forward to getting out and about to meet some of you guys, and Sal says she's going to take me to one of those show things but I'm a bit little at the moment. My mum goes a lot, and also Auntie Tu. They're real pro's at this showing game. My big half sister hasn't done too bad either, and apparently, in 2005, she won Best Bitch and Best Opposite Sex to her daddy somewhere called 'Crufts'. Mummy and Auntie Tu told me that I might be able to go there next year if I'm a really good boy. Apparently only the best dogs go there, so you can betcha life I'm gonna be there coz I'm a really cool dude!"

Hannah Steals The Limelight!

Just had an update on Huri Hanim, a.k.a Hannah. Her owners Brian and Cerys Tyson write as follows:

"Today we entered Hannah in the local companion show, she was in A.V Pastoral/Working Puppy (4mth-12mth, not K.C ruled), and in Prettiest Bitch in a novelty class.

She amazed us by coming 4th in a class of 11 for the A.V Pastoral/Working Puppy Class and then in the Novelty Class Prettiest Bitch took 1st place beating the other 9 exhibits!

We met up with our local friends and Hannah enjoyed every minute playing with the other pups, and she loves strawberry ice cream.

P.S. Zeb was not happy being outshone by this young pup he managed a 4th out of a class of 15 in A.V Working/Pastoral Open...."

Thank you to Eva and Darek in Poland for sending me updates of Hasmet in Poland. Hasmet has settled very well. Eva and Darek report that Hasmet is absolutely fine, and a very happy pup.

Eva and Darek also have two other Anatolians, Asima ze Zatopene Chajdy and Aydan Inci od Sekvoje. Asima is Youth Champion in Poland - she is 11 month old and has already won 5 x BOB, 5 x Best Puppy.

Huri Hanim - a.k.a Hannah.

"Hi! I'm Hannah! I want to tell you about, me, my new home, and new bestest biggest friend you ever saw!"

"Well, I was born in February, and went to live with my new mum and dad at the beginning of May. I could have gone there sooner, but they did something called 'getting married', and then they had to go to some place far away for a 'honeymoon', so I had to wait til they came home again. When I got to our new house, it was soooooooo coooooooool!! I didn't know what to do first! BUT, there was this really really huge giant enormous dog there, mum and dad call him Zeb, I am not sure why, perhaps it is after Zebedee from the Magic Roundabout, because he does bounce around a lot! Anyway, we made friends, and he promised to share his toys with me, and show me around. He told me all the best places to get into mischief, and all the tricks that make our mum and dad laugh!"

"The other thing that we do together is some kind of 'training' stuff - Zeb is really good at it, he has to run around a bit, then stand still, then run around a bit more, it looks kind of fun, but i'm still a bit little to do that at the moment. We have been practicing a little bit, and I cant wait to have a proper go myself. Zeb says they have lots of really fun days out, and sometimes, I might see my mummy, Chanim, and my big sister Hazine too! Its all sooooooooooo exciting! I got so excited one day, that I fell in the fish pond and got all soaking wet!"

February 2006 Puppies.

Unfortunately, due to timewasters, puppies are still available from our February 2006 litter. Their mother is Kurtkir Huri a.k.a Chanim, who is the foundation bitch of Huri, and who will be 7 years old this year. Chanim is a semi-roughcoated bitch, from a long and established line here in the UK. The father of the pups is tri-colour male Arkadas Ates, who is from completely different bloodlines. Ates is from a Hisar/Tuzla combination, both very long established lines, with a good history of health checking and hip-scoring. Both Chanim and Ates have wonderful temperaments, but live completely different lifestyles! Chanim is my constant companion, first and foremost a pet, then as a hobby, we attend the odd show or two. Ates lives on a smallholding in Cornwall with sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, horses, other Anatolians, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Together, they have produced a wonderful litter :-)

Bath Championship Show

28th May 2006

It was quite an eventful day, having sorted out the pups at home, and after much greeting of Hazine back at the Huri household, we loaded up the car and left for Bath Show.

The entry was good for this judge, Miss Suzie Vincent, and Anatolian owner of old, and she was presented with some difficult decisions on the day. A bitch which I have bred, which now resides at Hisar Anatolians took 2nd in Post Graduate Bitch. And my foundation bitch, Chanim a.k.a Kurtkir Huri won the Open Bitch Class, which was an unusually high entry. Chanim went on to take Best Bitch, and finally Best of Breed, with a young up and coming male taking Reserve. Also at the show were Cerys and Brian Tyson with their male, Tuzla Zebani. They have recently acquired a pup from my February litter, Huri Hanim a.k.a Hannah, who had come along for the ride. After the show we had a bit of a re-union in the car park, and then said our goodbyes before setting off home to see what damage the remaining puppies had done at home! It was a lovely day, and great to see old friends and new.

Hi! We are Huri Anatolian Shepherd Dogs, and we are based in the UK. We have been involved in the breed since 1999, when we obtained our first bitch, Kurtkir Huri. Since then, our involvement with the breed has grown and grown, including several years serving as Chairman of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of Great Britain. We have produced two litters out of our foundation bitch, our last litter being born in February 2006. Huri Anatolians only breed from hip-scored stock of excellent temperament. Due to timewasters, there are several wonderful male pups left from our Feb 2006 litter (pics coming soon!). Our first litter born in 2003 have turned out to be wonderful dogs, including B.O.S at Crufts 2005, Huri Hazine of Hisar, and of those dogs hip-scored from that litter, have scores below the UK BVA 'mean score' of 15.
